Is that it then? I must say I wd have expected a good deal more than a measly 5,500 words in 3/4 flippin months of actually being on the crew and three weeks of being at sea. We know nothing bout the other crew other than a few nicknames, whereas we could have had 12 or whatever life stories. See - I don't even know how many people are on board. We don't know the equipment, stores, the kit, the navigation methods, politics, anything. We've had more detailed reports in the transmissions and in his CV about the names of his wife and child than anything else - important to preecy of course but not the reason why he was there.

Am I being a bit miserable, again? Is preecy on YW staff (in which case gis a job) or actually paid by kingfisher (1 mars bar per day) or wot? comments?

Yes - I think tcm wrote more and it was a much better read. Perhaps once they've got the new mast sorted out we could elect him as a substitute for Preecy. This will of course have to be after the Calcutta Cup game as he will want to watch all his foolish bets going pear-shaped.

yes but to string him up by his own petard, matt's reports were also woefully light on the other crew profiles. Hardly a mention of ellen too.I heard reports she was often crying at night after hearing that Scuttlebut didn't like her new hairdo.

Re: okayokay but more seriously

Supposing you (any poster here) were plonked on the boat. After a bit of throwing up and eating hidden mars bars...wouldn't you get going on the keyboard and fling some stuff at an IPC subeditor? They are always after decent "content", no? I would feel a bit pressurised to write summink at least once a day, even just humourous guff.

Re: okayokay but more seriously

I agree
not having access to a tv often and not having satelite i have not really seen much coverage of our 'ellen. This has been my, and i expect others, only source of news.it is also the best media imo for ocean racing as it can react quickly and post stuff as it happens. however i have not been reading every story, as I did with the Volvo, so this is more comment than anything.

I thought maybe they were storing it up. but as there has been no big piece since they lost their mast, they are obviously not.
