Your worst boat

It was American, petrol and built from a soggy combination of MDF and cheap chipboard. It was smeared all over in sort of watery slime type glue and a thin layer of furry fabric and Fablon. The hull was years ahead of its time in being eggshell thin and super light ie. flexed like buggery and leaked from every seam and porthole.
The absorbent(very)upholstery was a mixture of foam and rusty staples..
The engines were fully up to job of ruining any boaty fun.
Well done Regal.
This boat was at the time of course nearly 20 years old and so 19 years past its "sink by" date.
All new Regals are wonderful etc etc............before my mail box gets flooded.

Duno whether this was the worst or the best boat I ever had.

A clinker built so called Pilot boat. The guy I bought it off had spent years rebuilding it. Still Not finished. The boat yard bloke that deliverered it. Gave me some good advice.

I earn all my money, delivering these things all over the place. I bloke builds it, other folk Folks pull them to bits and start again.

I took his advice and carried on with the present design. I'd only got a few pieces of wood to fit, before I put it up for sale.

It had a landrover engine in it. Bought off the canal at Hapton Lancs. About 30ft but big.

Two blokes came to look at it.

We want it for fishing in Fleetwood. It needs a bigger prop. This needs changing and that chopping off.

I made a tidy proffit, but me and the bloke from Hapton boat yard had a bit of a laugh when he took it away. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I wouldn't say I've had a worst boat. I have had bad experiences with all of them but I 've also had a lot of joy with each of them.
My worst equipment failure ,which would have been nasty in heavy seas, was when the steering locked hard over to stb and the only way I could regain directional control was to disconnect the hydraulics and steer by engines. Fortunately the sea state was slight.
