Your boaty new year resolution

I'm going to try and resist mentioning the E word to save offending sailfree.

Do you think I should change my Avatar as well, dont want to upset him?

My main resolution is to make the Scuttlebutt Ostend trip this year.
I also want to cruise to Tower Bridge and possibly drop the mast and go up though London.

I would like to find a swinging mooring.
If I do so I need to find a way to lift Sirenia off her trailer to A/F her bottom and the drop keel.

It is said that she will but looking at the holding down system I don't think that I would trust it.

I am thinking of using the lorry lift at work to raise her up on the trailer then I need to find a way if suspending her.
My current thoughts involve scaffolding and webbing straps.
Still working on it.

The other job I would like to do is re-finish her hull.
The gel-coat seems quite thin.
There is some deep scratches from 1 or 2 indiscretions. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I hope to look at paint systems or an overcoat of gel-coat at the LIBS.

Seasonal Felicitations Mr machurley22. Thank you for your recent enquiry. I would be delighted to come and assist you and your fine craft on the West Coast of Scotland.
I think perhaps we should aim to do this when the global warming brings the reasonable expectation of raising the local temperature above, say, 12 deg C.
Should I bring Bruichladdich, or a Speyside?

Yours etc

Let's pencil in a long weekend for August 2012 then, your choice.

Regarding your closing question, surely, when asking a Scot if he would prefer a highland or island malt for a sailing weekend you weren't expecting any answer other than both?

Awrrabest tae you an' yours.

To reach the point where SWMBO is confident enough to put the boat in her berth without me at the helm....

Neil, I'm impressed - you're going to have his'n'hers berths for the new boat?....

Clive, I spoke to Julian Everitt about this. He said that the keelbox/lock pin arrangement was perfectly suitable for standing your Evo25 against scrubbing posts. Thats exactly what I used to do. If I can find the photos I will post them, of me and erstwhile crew antifouling between tides on the wall at Ramsgate.

Of course you coulfd lock the keel down and lay it over one side one tide and swap the next if you wish, by pulling it over whilst still afloat and easing it over.

Are you going to honour the bet then? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
