I will assist as many people as possible in their spinnaker or cruising chute aspirations. Call 0800-KITEUP for East Coast assistance and bookings. Guapa take note, yours must be bloody enormous.

Mmmm... an offer from Full Circle to help me get Guapa's kite up... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I don't know if I should be grateful or weary...
Remember, old bean, I've seen you handle a kite before /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
It'd be safer if I keep our kite a "family affair" /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Now seriously - Fleet's forecasting a civilized N veering NE 3-4 on Friday. Seastate slight.
Looks like kite weather to me.

So, yep /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif it'll be Ramsgate /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif again /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

1) To complete a circumnavigation... of Mull.

2) To fly the spinnaker.

Hmm.. 0800-KITEUP you say. Jim, do you give lessons on the west coast of Scotland? I've had several "can-do, nae problem" sailors aboard but it always turns out to be the wrong kind of wind or something when it comes down to it.

To take Mariposa on a really ambitious cruise . . . to East Loch Tarbert. Oh, and back to Rhu.

To finish putting Colean on the deck and cabin top.

To finish converting her to cutter rig just for the hell of it.

To tidy up the brightwork.

To resist all those tempting offers from people wishing to buy her. (yeah, right)

Seasonal Felicitations Mr machurley22. Thank you for your recent enquiry. I would be delighted to come and assist you and your fine craft on the West Coast of Scotland.
I think perhaps we should aim to do this when the global warming brings the reasonable expectation of raising the local temperature above, say, 12 deg C.
Should I bring Bruichladdich, or a Speyside?

Yours etc

0800-KITEUP.

Ah, Guapa, if you recall I was advising the owner not to raise the kite with the experience onboard not able to set or gybe in 'lively' conditions and the lines barely adequate to put it up. So I claim a null on that one.

Besides it is occasionally cathartic to split asunder a grands worth of hanky.

Indeed not. I should think Guapa has a very sturdy kite, prob made from WWII RAF Parachute silk and Belgian Maiden's undergarments.
We should avoid upsetting Mr Guapas lightened pocket further, as the evidence suggests it unbalances him, causing him to tip out of the tender, and similar.

I should have benefitted from your sound advice. We didn't actually tear anything on our debut run, but did have a gybing-fest and tested the Angle of Vanishing Stability to both port and starboard. Mind you, it didn't half go when it was drawing.
The hands have healed now.
I should have taken this picture of another boat and said "I think in 10 minutes we'll weigh anchor and beat downwind" (another argumentation point) rather than "Right let's give that spinnaker a go then" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thank you for these kind & comforting words - you are indeed a gentlemen.

As to tipping out of the tender - you're not kidding. Re-arming lifejacket £30 a pop /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
If it wasn't for the Red Cross food parcels, I don't know how we'd survive.

I think I'd find it more cardiac than cathartic.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

30 quid, Ye Gods!!!!
I service my lifejackets and get the replacement 33g cylinders for £9.85!!!!!

Its only a grandiose Sparklets soda syphon refill!

Lakey: Wear gloves, and remember, if it feels a bit windy to be doing this, it probably is. Also, take 3 extra crew.
1 foredeck
1 sheet trimmer
1 guy adjuster and halyard puller.

Bloke at the back to keep the craft in a stable direction. Please.

Hee hee...

or take my strategy, of getting out the monster kite, putting a 10yr old on the helm, who has never seen a spinnaker close up before, let alone flown one, SWMBO on the winch, with yourself on the foredeck, and the 8yr old down below asleep.... and let 'er fly.....

A tad more exciting /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PS... before the FP shoot me for complete irresponsibility.... it wasn't very windy!

All good recommendations.

My mistakes:

18ft Foxcubs are "sprightly" when running
Mrs Lakesailor helming. (Not too experienced at running)
Me being everything else
No gloves.
(The ice bricks from the cool box are very soothing)
