Your boating history!

Wow - are you breaking your allegiance to Fairline!!

I might have to Mike. For the next boat I'd really like a c. 44ft shaft drive boat. The later Targa 44's (and equivalent 'V' Series Princesses I think) were all sterndrive or IPS drives (OMDB).

I could of course get an old Mk1 Targa 44 but they're getting a bit long in the tooth (we're talking 7 years time)!

1. Dingy with wooden floor and evinrude outboard. Was my dads in the garage. It ended up being stolen on the Thames at Kingston. Fortunatly insured!

2. 17 ft ish fletcher like ski boat of unknown origin. 50hp merc blue band. Resprayed and tarted up then sold after 2-3 years

3. Cranchi endurance 33

4 part ex the above for Targa 40 - currently moored 100 feet from me and I know the new owner and saw him on the water yesterday

5 squadron 65

6 squadron 58 ( post divorce !)

This looks value and fun

Now thinking about next one

1st got Ill in 2003, still in hospital three months later when a new fellow patient arrived with same problem, who just happened to be into boats. I borrowed a couple of mags & decided this may be a replacement for Golf which was going to be a big no no for some time.
Got out late 2004 & visited EBY after xmas, they had a rinker 250, good as new, made a silly offer which much to my surprise was accepted.
1 year & 1 PB2 later ordered a new Doral Elegante. She was borrowed for the boat show that year, kept her a couple of years when we met Trevor (absolute dealer) who was clearing about six boats due to Absolute wanting him to hold too much stock to remain a dealer, this was late 2008 IRC. We bought the 41 with a good px on the Doral, & kept her until recently when we bought an Abs 47 with a view to fitting stabiliser to make wife happy.
Been on her once so far by way of sea trial after spending on new everything inc Seakeeper.
Hoping I can find a really good surgeon now to make the dream a reality.

Such a nice thread.

I started very young at two years old to what then became a passion and a life. Looking at the sea and boats.

My grandfather had a ten feet wood build long Fregatina (traditional Maltese harbor boat, similar to a Maltese Kajjic but smaller and lower) with a 3hp Evinrude in Sliema, and he used to take me with him fishing inside Marsamexetto Harbor and also venturing a couple miles offshore.
He was always surprised how I always looked at cabin cruisers in the harbor, the Chris Crafts, Coronet, and the first Princesses (37) and never really gave a toss about fishing. His boat gets stolen in Winter 1985 infront of my parents house.
In 1988 a client of my father bought a Sunseeker 20 Mustang, of which I start going out with them as a crew as a friend, for four years till 1992. For a short period I did consider WIld Cats (the S20 Mustang) as my boat.

1994 - 2008 - Gobbi 27 Sport with 2 x 200hp diesel
2008 - today - Gobbi 335 SC with 2 x 230hp

Zodiac of around 2.5 mtrs with 4hp outboard
Fletcher Faro with 60hp outboard
Fletcher Faro With 100hp outboard
Sealine 230
Fairline Targa 31 (plus Picton with 100hp outboard for waterskiing)
Cranchi Endurance 39
Sunseeker Camargue 50

Incredibly, excluding the S/S which I still own, the total depreciation for all the others was less than £20000!

You’ve excluded running/maintenance costs I assume.......as is right and proper in boating maths :)
