you couldn\'t have bought that.....

.....as a certain BarryH would have been saying all weekend!

Having just returned from one of the best (long I admit) weekend's boating I will be rash and suggest I might be able to shrug off the next 'mini disaster' boating chucks at me.

Friday saw a run over to Swanage which was pretty much empty. First day in shorts this year and the firt outing for the tender, after a Winter of fishing trips with the odd run to Weymouth! Couple of great pints (have to be so carefull what you say in hear now) and back for a BBQ at the van with the kids running amok and the adults (?) comparing my Mountgay with Appleton Gold without coming to any conclusions...............

Saturday saw Studland, Banks Arms and back for a BBQ at another van..............

Sunday pottery pier, BBQ on the boat with kids running riot in the tenders (we wouldn't let them have the OBs 'cos it was so peacefull), water pistol testing session before back to berth and a smooth run back up a relatively quiet A31/M3.

Oh and did I mention the weather?!!!!!!!!!!!/forums/images/icons/smile.gif/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Only went out for the day on Saturday but it was absolutely cracking. Went across to Newtown Creek and dropped the hook, had lunch and lazed in the sun then came back in the evening and pootled leisurely up the Beaulieu River in bright sunshine.

Much to the kids' delight, we saw what I assume was a seal, swimming in the Newtown River (I've never seen one in the Solent before but I don't know what else it could have been) and, I think, a family of Moose approaching Buckler's Hard. Toscana looked very smart. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Great weekend in Plymouth too, sea fog came in till about midday but this gave us the chance to play with radar whilst creeping around the sound. Ended up anchoring in Kingsand Bay for lunch and getting slighty sunburnt, only thing that spoiled the picture was the prats on Jet skis who insist on riding at full tilt between all the anchored boats, nearly spilt my Chablis on one occasion. Also impressed by the guy with the same boat as mine (Jeanneau Prestige 36) who was wakeboarding behind his boat.

Seem to remember that was your catchphrase one idealic morning in Newtown last year, Duncan.

Where did I end up? Did a practise run over ot Newtown and Yarmouth with RomanBaths (as they call themselves, on their rare visits here).

BArry's catchphrase - I, and others, were in danger of being lynched for it's (excessive?) use over the weekend.

First used in my presence sitting in the Banks garden looking out over a blue Studland as the sun went down on a great boating day...
