fuel question

Matt, if I ever ask you this question it's cos there's a subtext. You may hear the words "how much fuel does this baby use?" but what I am really saying is "please ask me on board, some of that cristal would be very nice thanks, yes I don't mind if you let me have a go at driving." I suggest that you assume that all raggies are thinking along the same lines.
 
A couple of years ago, I was leaving a friend's house in St Pete to drive my rental car back to Tampa airport. He took me to one side and explained that I had to fill the tank before I got back to the airport because the bandits at the rental company would bill me $4 a gallon. Didn't like to say that that compared favourably with UK prices.
 
TCM: Yep I don't pay a penny, however if I authorise a payment that is a penny over what the owner feels is economical you can be sure I get my 10 cents worth of grief.
I am not showing off, I for one would be interested to know the facts and figures of any of the boats people on this forum own/run. Sorry if I'm making you feel small, but this isn't a battle about which boat is bigger. If I were showing off it would be for good reason, I am very proud of the boat I run.

Fine, all cleared up - it isn't your boat. So, your uses of the possessive pronoun such "my" boat and "my" generator etc etc should be read using the definite article - "the" boat, "the" generator - no problem!

Yet...all other skippers hereabouts seem to find it easy to make very clear whether they are owner or otherwise - yet you misdirected on a series of occassions contributing nothing much - except towards your own self-aggrandisment. This doesn't make me or anyone feel small - but it does potentially make you appear ridiculous and devalues the forum.

Incidentally, you say ....if you don't like "my" posts....Are you SURE they're your posts - or is someone else doing the typing, hm? :-)...

Although I don't always agree with TCM's views, I have to say I think he makes a fair point.

I have read a number of your posts and was always of the opinion that YOU were the owner. Was rather surprised therefore to learn that you were the hired help.

Now there's nothing wrong with being proud of your vessel, but it is a little misleading to pass it off as your own, however you look at it.

I'm sure that none of us on here really and truely cares what any other forumite owns/drives/does, but I guess we do expect forumites to be clear and unambiguous!

All IMHO of course.

To be fair, Derf, Northern Wave's situation has always been clear to me and I suspect others. So he uses I/we/mine. I think thats perfectly valid and does'nt devalue his opinions. He's just like the rest of us, interested in moboing
