Man down! If you want to take a toolbox of beers to VickyD we can all sit round JennyLynn and poke at LBRodders' cables n shit while chewing the fat and offering solace. I reckon the rozzers in the RNLI will have her back and tied up in a couple hours. Make it a small toolbox mind. In true pirate tradition one should profit from a comrade's humiliation. He wont have had time to finish his stash ?
 
Well, @BruceK and @seastoke are good at hanging around marinas talking a good game.
We were busy at sea this weekend ?

Our boat now resembles one of those bikes you see at fair grounds where the challenge is to ride a set distance where all the controls are opposite.

I'm phoning Topsail tomorrow and asking for a discount. Our boat is 100% un nickable ?

Welcome to the club, you've popped the cherry so to speak. We have all been there, troubles at sea. Mind you, we've all been able to make it back unaided except CJ. But that's another story of catastrophe followed by catastrophe. He got the fuel bug that crippled one engine and then managed to get a dinghy strop in the leg of the other engine and ripped the whole H frame out leaving the leg at 45 degrees. Then his anchor dragged forcing me to tow his butt until the RNLI could divest me of his wreck. Think of it as a rite of passage, and maybe understand the caution I always exercised when I organised weekend outs. Lots of nasties always ready to bite you ?

Yes, he spun that dit whilst buried in spanners and grease. ?

We spoke about a tow, but it would have been a painful few hours whilst two planing boats attempted big wind against tide chop at 6knts. Like you mentioned, a relatively safe situation can become a problem and fast [in those parts] and there was no point putting others and their boats at risk.
I was happy to swallow my pride and the RNLI will get a nice donation. Absolutely no point in saving face at sea, particularly when the wee'uns are on board.
 
Chances are without the correct towing rope and snubber CJ would have ripped his stern cleats out on the first big snatch. A beam on tow in those conditions would make a mess of the gel coat regardless of how many fenders you used due to disparity of height. RNLI was your only real option. Of course if Roy and I were there we'd have given you a lift to the beach and told you to walk then plunder JL for booty before arguing over salvage rights ? :ROFLMAO:

Absolutely. Towing/Rescue at sea is not straight forward. There is a reason why lifeboats are bespoke and cost an arm and a leg.

We did try to get a commercial tow from operators on the menai but couldn't.

@seastoke out in more than a breath of wind? :LOL: In conditions he plays in, I could have swam the boat back.

I am awaiting to hear a solution. Getting dragged out in VD may be a solution if ABC are happy to work onsite. All depends on what the issue is etc and what is required.

Fortunately it just proved to be inconvenient more than anything. Fingers crossed the repair costs can be man maths'd into fuel / boat usage budget which is likely to be healthy over the next month or so!

@BruceK always said he couldn't get in a tender front first! :LOL:
