I have got to wonder why the very best teak deck cleaner on the market was missed from the test - Boracol!
So easy to use, also superb results and no damage to the teak deck when applied with a small paint roller. I have been using for 5 seasons - just one application each season, generally in August - with the boat out in the open over the winter. People keep stopping and ask what I use on the deck - so far about 5 people in the last 4 weeks I have been back in.

Could not recommend more highly, and I have no commercial interest, just a delighted owner of a teak decked yacht using Boracol.

Well I haven't seen the test so apologies if I am wide of the mark but Boracol is not a cleaner. It is a treatment for teak decks. More like an oil with biocides in it to kill off and prevent mildew growth

Or Patio Magic -which was advised on this forum and so far has been just that - painted on, leave boat and come back to find the decks clean.
I was also surprised to see using a scrubbing brush. None allowed near the decks on our boat to minimise wear.

Another vote for Boracol - I use a wide / soft brush to gently paint it on, it takes around 1 hour to do all of the decks on Catre.

No elbow grease / scrubbing - and thus no erosion of the Teak

1 week later all back to a lovely silvery grey that stays the same way all year

If the deck is dirty just wash down with a sponge using soap and water to get the grime off. Then apply the boracol and end result better than any tested in YM. Boracol is water based and maybe be a "treatment" but end result is better than any "cleaner" and far less wear and tear on the teak grain.

I haven't seen the test, but I use Wessex Chemicals Cleaner and Renovator. My teak is 8 years old and virtually no erosion of soft grain. Sponge on sideways, hose off. The colour restoration is amazing.

Nigel,I may carry small quantities of boaty liquids in my checked in baggage from time to time, but even I draw the line at 15 litres of deck treatment. So ship the solid and add the water on arrival.

Same here. Great results from using the Wessex Chemicals system.

I've been using Boracol for years on my teak and sprayhood, with excellent results. I recently bought some more, and was told that Boracol 10RH is no longer supposed to be available for amateur use, although 5RH is still OK for amateur use. I find the cheapest way to buy it is direct from ACS, who make it. 5 litres of Boracol 5RH was £31, plus VAT and carriage, rather less than some other suppliers. They take orders over the phone on 01935 414012.

Where would we be without this ever-willing source of helpfulness! Many thanks!
