Right, now I'm back and about again (long story, bad back stopped work for a while) we've had a revamp of the videos we do on the new boat tests:

Yes I know it's 11 mins long, but from the comments we received, more people wanted more information about the boat and how she sails. We could have broken this into two videos one for the interior, one for the sailing performance, or we could do what we have done for this video and kept it all together. Whaddayou think?

Next up is the 360º images to scroll your way around every cabin:

Here's the saloon

More 360º interactive images of the Dufour 36

And finally a gallery of extra images that couldn't all fit into the magazine :(

You get the nice jobs!

You have tested the new Dufour 36 Performance and now they have announced a Dufour 500 Grand Large, first showing Cannes in September.
A D 36 Performance flew past us between Guernsey and Cherbourg a couple of weeks ago with spinnaker flying. I spoke to the skipper later in the Cherbourg Yacht Club and he said that it felt like flying too!

Looks good....

Couple of comments...

1) the audio could be a bit cleaner... Watch how your using the radio mic... Plus the soundtrack is rather dodgy in a sort of 1970's porn type way....

2) grading... There is a magenta cast over most of it on my machine... You could easily get rid of this in fcp... Either way a small bit of grading and it would look much better.

Good video I thought, left me feeling like I knew the boat. Nice touch at the end as well. And I agree, interesting choice of music :D

If you're looking for feedback can I just say you need a wider angle lens on the video.

Shame you have used flash and disenfranchised half of the known universe! :)

I like the way the "apple V adobe" spat is suddenly my fault :) and it's only on mobile apple devices that you can't view the 360s. most people with these mobile devices also have a computer

There is a way of doing the 360s on HTML5, but that is something IT are looking into, so sadly don't hold your breath.

Sorry, if this is called work, I hate you just a little bit!!!

The music seems to be attracting comments, we need something as the wind noise on the sailing stuff is bad, or it will just get the engine from the photoboat.

But finding music that's free to use is another problem. I've used Chris's music to death, and finding "usable" royalty free music is a challenge. By "usable" it need to be something that is appropriate for the type of boat/weather, not too plinky plonky or thrash metal (of which the internet seems to have an over abundance) in the end we get what we pay for.

Believe it or not that was the music I found which I thought best fitted the boat, something a bit funky :)

I was wondering when he was going to start making holes in the hull and setting fire to the curtains...

From watching Dylan's videos, I now think that the various shades of folk do well with sailing videos.

Boaters Are Drowning In Fuel Costs, Can One Company Can Help.

Across the country, fuel costs continue to skyrocket, making boating an expensive proposition. As Memorial Day, the kickoff to the summer season, quickly approaches, boat owners have been forced to ask themselves how much they're willing to spend for a weekend on the water.

It can cost a staggering $1,000 to fill a 200-gallon tank with diesel fuel. Boaters who fill their gas tanks up once a weekend over the summer may end up shelling out more for one summer's worth of gas than they spent buying their boat in the first place.

In response to rising gas prices, many boaters have chosen to cut back their fuel usage by taking trips closer to home or spending less time on the water. Boaters aren't able to enjoy their investment to its full potential.

Did you reherse; the actor seemed very proficient with the opening and closing of the clicky latches......shame about the handrails on deck.Should have been shown in the rain with a head wind when a sprayhood would be a plus

I love this boat, it's a beauty. But i've a question to. Dufour, Bavaria, Jeannau, Dehler; Any of these wharfs produces family cruisers and performance boats. It doesn't seems logical to me, if youre looking for a value-for-money boat you will certainly view their products. Other wharfs produces performance boats only. They concentrated their efforts into this small marketsegment. Allthough I never set a foot on a performance yacht, I guess J-boat/Archambault build pretty fast boats. Can a Dufour 'performance yacht' really be compared to a specialized J-boat or Pogo of equal length? (or slightly shorter).
