After two years of being a freelance powerboat instructor and only partly employed, hence the previous comment in my bio as to my occupation - "Ducking and Diving". I have now joined the ranks of the employed. As of Saturday 5th March I become Chief Instructor and local manager of new powerboat school in Southampton. While the school itself is not new , it has been opearting out of North Wales very successfully for a number if years it is it's first move onto the south coast.

So if any of you forumites are based in or around Shamrock Quay do please drop in for a coffee and to say hi. The school is based directly above "The Waterfront" bar/restuarant.

As a result of this momentous move, I have had to relinguish my part time commitments to other schools and I would like to thank publically, Paul Glatzel of Powerboat Training UK based in Poole (not forgetting for one moment his lovely wife, Viv) who gave me my first break into instructing and gave me so much support in the early days.

So, I have at last achieved what so many would love to do - turn my hobby into a second career. After all, life is not a rehersal - you only get one chance, so live it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Fantastic news Dave!! My guess is that this is Professional Powerboat Training, owned by Jonno in Pwllhwli North Wales. How do I know? Well my son Ed passed his PB2 there only a month or so ago. He did this in ferocious weather and with great instruction from a friendly bunch.

So...I will be the first to plug these guys as they are very good - and they are deserving of their name.

Good luck and enjoy.

BTW - you have my number, so if you are coming up this way just call me. I'll be there this weekend (hopefully!).

As the saying goes - all you gotta do is call!! Mind you, the company is aiming to open a branch in Scotland - but then you wouldn't have me! Of course that may be a blessing in disguise! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Thanks for your good wishes.

Initially there will be myself and another instructor operating with 2 ribs - a "hard" boat may be introduced as well. I will undertake all training up to the Advanced Level and own boat tuition as well as VHF and PWC. We will be also offering VHF courses, both the full course as well as the DSC upgrades with immediate effect and we will introduce 1st Aid and Day Skipper theory courses (now considered a desired qualification prior to undertaking the Advanced Powerboat course) and the PWC certificate of competance over the next few months.

Most of the ongoing administration will be handled from the Pwllheli head office. The school will operate 7 days a week.

Hi All

Thanks for all your support towards David, I think David as just about covered it but-

David will be in charge of the operation at Southampton with Support from Ian Jones who's worked for PPT for the last year. Gwyn Jones will continue to run PPT, Pwllheli with support from Phil Brown. All bookings will come through Amy Collier who will conitinue to run the office 10am 5pm weekdays. We are still looking for CI for our new branch in Scotland opening in June.

The only thing were not to sure about is what i'm gonna do? Anyone got any jobs going?

Kind Regards
