I need some help please.

After looking around, I had decided on a Moody S31 but now I realise that they are out of my price if I decide to live for the day rather than wait 10 years until I can afford to buy one.
I am looking for a boat around 30ft +/- 3ft that sleeps 6 in 3 cabins. The cockpit needs to fairly clear as we have 2 kids 5 & 7 and need to be able to get to them without stepping over a main sheet traveler. Priced around £25k +/- £3k

Thanks for any suggestions.

Never mind, sleeping 6, you would have grown tired of an S31 by the second weekend. The lack of stowage, made using one for three weeks with just a couple and occasional third hand very difficult and tiresome. At a guess, I would say look at a Westerley Fulmar or Sadler 32/34. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Apart from the "three cabins" a Westerly Knosort would fit the bill. Stable as can be no end on stowage (3, grown up females couldn't fill it with kit for two weeks). Two children will go in the quarter birth.

[/ QUOTE ]Sadler 34 for "Priced around £25k +/- £3k" You will be very lucky - either that or you will get a duffed up one needing a lot of TLC and money thrown at it! You would even be chancing it for a 32 at the above budget!

Seamaster 925 might be worth looking at. Clear and reasonably deep cockpit, easy to handle, reasonably wide side decks, some sleep up to 7. Will fit price plus leave you something to spend on making it child-proof (ish).

westerly Reknown 31 .has 3 cabins and you could probably get change from £25 k Theres a bilge keel version but I cant recall what its called.

Have to say you're right about the lack of storage on S31, unless of course you dispence with food stores and all stick to the one change of clothes!

I don't know, there's a nice looking Sadler 32 '79 for £12.9K lying in Brixham. Okay she's no spring chicken, but in the pics she looks good, nice dark hull (maybe painted), cockpit looks very clean, inside lots of pics too. Minus the vinyl seats = /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif for that money

What's the problem with the traveler? When you're not sailing move it to the appropriate end of the pushpit, works a treat and it won't restrict you're choices.

3 x twin cabins and at that price the only boat I know at that price is the Heavenly Twins - Talk to Ship's Woofy or look at his site for details on the boat.

I cant believe it - I have recommended a Heavenly Twins again! Is there some cure for this? any suggestions, please let me know

A French boat with a similar layout but within your budget is the Jeanneau Sunlight. I had one for family sailing for 12 years with very little problems at all. Or have a look at the First 305. Hugely practical boat, good layout, sails well and within budget.

You should be able to get a Moody 33 for that. Large, deep safe cockpit (the traveller is on the after cabin roof), separate after cabin for the kids and reasonable sailing performance. Mind you, i am probably a bit biased.
