went to pwllheli on saturday to do a few jobs, boat is in the yard with the stern facing westish, wind was howling when i got ther midday. intended to stop the night, fired up the eber and started doing a few jobs. 16.30 the navtex spewed out a gale warning, irish sea storm force 10 reducing later to 8
about 17.30 it got worse and by 18.00 the boat was shuddering, i mean really shaking, the mast was vibrating and setting up a backwards and forwards surge, this is in a big cradle by the way. this lasted about an hr and then it started to moderate, any way i chickened out and came home, but it goes to show the forces that can act on them even supposedly safe ashore.
anybody know where we can find out the maximum speeds generated yesterday?

At Cardiff yesterday the clubs anemometer was touching 80 mph in the gusts (dont know why its not in knots). That was about 5pm. Was cautious to keep away from boats on the hard.Fortunately apart from dinghys all stayed standing.
