One of their chaps at Excel showed me how to change the battery on the fixed Yeoman.
You need to prise off the cover on the box (this, apparently, is more difficult on the Sport model as it is glued - no doubt to keep it watertight). The battery is just held under a conventional clip.
VERY IMPORTANT! Power up the unit using the external supply before changing the battery in order to maintain the memory!!
He reckoned the battery probably needs changing every 3 or 4 years.

How to delete unwanted charts - don't renew your battery for 5-6 years and, like mine, your Yeoman will eventually loose all chart references!

Precision Navigation (Yeoman manufacturers) quoted me the following...

"Our standard service charge is £ 52.88 which includes the software upgrade and battery change. Return carriage (UK mainland) £15
Robin Cole
Precision Navigation Ltd
Tel: 01473 327813
www.precisionnavigation.co.uk"

As my unit is old I am getting the software updated so that the reference points for the newer folios actually match!

Hope this helps

For Yeoman Pro, resetting to factory defaults is on p45 of manual.
Press "down" button.
Turn on power
Keep button pressed until display reads "Clear yes/no"
Select "yes"
Press enter button
Turn off power
All user entered chart/waypoint data are now deleted.
If you don't have a manual, one can be downloaded from the Yeoman site.
