Yellow waterline stains

The waterline on my boat is quite badly stained with a yellow discolouration, especially at the bow.

Seems to be embedded in the geloat, and can be rubbed out easily with a fine grit, however I wondered if this can be removed without such aggresive abrasives as I'm concerned about wearing the gelcoat too thinly.....? any advice would be appreciated.

Products such as oxalic acid diluted in warm water, K&H Gelcoat Restorer (hydrochloric acid) or Ranex rust converter will, once applied to the area, bleach the gelcoat back to it's original colour.
Simply wipe/brush on and leave for 10 minutes, then wash off. Completely non-abrasive.

I was told rubbing a lemon on it works but not tried it.

Aldi Caravan Cleaner (£2.99 a litre) works for me.

I just use a mild abrasive, soft cloth and gentle rub and it comes off, i cant find the light version but this will give you an idea. http://marinestore.co.uk/MD381316.html Its good for taking off any marks, let the liquid do the job dont use polishers and push hard a gentle rub is all it needs.
