Hi
I am currently replacing my Alternator on a VP2030. The old one has a yellow cable coming out from the alternator and the connecting to the charging split Diode. The new one has the yellow cable coming out at connecting straight to the B+.
Is this ok or do I need to connect it to the Diode ?
Thanks

The yellow wire is the sensing wire.
If the alternator is going to be used without a diode splitter it will be connected to the B+ terminal, or to terminal 30 on the starter solenoid along with the main (red) alternator output wire from B+

If you are using a diode splitter the yellow wire should be connected to the splitter output terminal that supplies the house battery bank, or to the battery isolator switch. When connected like this the alternator output voltage will be adjusted to compensate for the voltage drop in the splitter.

Now all installed but the rev counter is not working the correct black/grey is connected to the W terminal. What can I check now ? Is there a way to see if the W terminal is working ? Or is there another issue that we have caused ?
