Hi All, a couple of the lads that took part in this years charity cycle ride have expressed interest in participating in another one in 2016.

This thread is to ask whether anyone else would like to do so. I am suggesting that we don't do it for charity as the forum has done more than its fair share of giving recently and instead, we do it for the sole reason of socialising and giving those that need it a decent excuse to get fitter.

Pop your names down here if it's something you'd be interested in and we'll take it from there making it as challenging as the participants want it to be i.e. we can choose a course that is flatter and shorter if that's what you'd prefer.

I'd suggest one mandatory aspect of the ride is a Beer and Natter at the end of it ;)

yup. im in Gary, happy to help organise with you again.

As a first suggestion. what about doing a round new forest route? reasonably flat, near the water for after event? can route anywhere from say 20 miles right up to 60 + depending on desire?

just a thought..

I'm in. However, some of us are not Solent based, so access and escape should be considered. Round the island sounds interesting, but it would be nice to crash on someone's boat after the event.

Oh how quickly you all forget lol. I'll pass on the bike ride but will be there to cheer you all home.

Ok. So in dire need of motivation! Bike went into the shop yesterday as a fault appeard during the last 20 miles of the last ride and I didn't get it fixed! Given the next week is looking like a wash out, now is as good a time as any to get it repaired.

Anyone got any suggestions on dates for the first short(ish) ride? I know Gary has been doing plenty but I have been stopped pretty much since July!

I had an unwelcome reintroduction to the bathroom scales and there is considerable work to be done!!!

This is weird because I haven't been for a ride in a while and I've lost weight???

muscle loss but my problem, i have replaced it with chocolate hob nobs and large quantities of beer and wine!

Howard, we have a ride here I Shaftesbury that's about 100 yards long. Google "Gold Hill Cycle Race"

looks similar to that damm hill in Alton that Paul is so fond of. :disgust:
