I rather fancy one of the non walk ashore pontoon berths South of the Bridge in Yarmouth, IOW.
Does anyone know who owns/runs these? Thanks in advance.
Harbour Commission. You have to be an Island resident to have one, it used to be that you had to live within 7 miles of the church, but it changed to Island wide recently. There is a waiting list, I have been on the list about 18months. You can be an LTV - long term visitor, they invoice monthly, its more costly that being a permanent berth holder. Ask the office, they are very helpful.
Harold Hayles is walk ashore and the noise of the cars clanking over the bridge is irritating. Its north of the bridge though.
River Yar, talk to Jaime, he's easy to deal with, their pontoon, the long one, is connected by a little floating tub that pulls across on ropes, known as the Yarmouth Traveller, I think it needs a key fob to operate. Its a lovely spot. there's another pontoon even further south, I'm not sure if its theirs or the Harbour commission.
Edited to be clearer. Its my home port, so ask away.
