I love Yarmouth for a number of reasons. It’s only an hour and a half away and they will almost invariably find a space for you. The facilities were upgraded a few years back, and you are only a few minutes away from either the town, a small beach, or the river.

The harbour during the day … if you stay on the boat, it’s at the “interesting” end of the relaxation scale. Lifeboats, the Ferry, Hen Do’s, Boats trying to park and mostly succeeding.

But if you stay up late enough, reading your Kindle, the Lifeboat and the Ferry have gone to sleep, the Hen Do has passed out, and all the Boats have either parked or gone somewhere else.

It all becomes very quiet, and very still.

We were there for a few days last week, moored directly opposite the lifeboat. As you say, such a lovely place when things have quietened down.

Great for the Hot Rocks dining if looking for different dining. The castle is worth a visit plus a former railway station platform provides a good start for a walk down the old track . We were there in Early July and the crossing to Lymington can be rather rolling motion if the wind gets up and tide is running hard.great photos also to be had at Lym YH pontoon O looking out across the Solent towards Yarmouth of an evening
