A lovely harbour, BUT - reasonable harbour fees until you add (1) harbour taxi - £2/person/visi ashore (2) £1.10/person/shower, & pubs stop serving food at 2100 hrs.

Oh, be fair - is 21.30!/forums/images/icons/smile.gif I was there Thursday and all the pubs said "we stop serving at 21.30" -it was 21.35 and there was the three of us and another lot looking to eat. The chippie did us well!

Yeah but - eg
Visit to Cowes Yacht Haven (supposed to be expensive) - cost for a 43' = £33.
Visit to Yarmouth (cheap, sorry low cost??) - cost for same 43' = £17, visit ashore (8) = £16 (Beer Run), visit ashore (8) = £16 (Shower Run), Showers (8)= £ 8.80, Total = £57.80.

Having a dinghy and only showering on my birthday makes Yarmouth a bargain!
btw SWMBO, who showers as often as once a month, got a useful tutorial from the harbour staff - go into the shower, strip off and then go outside again to put the token in - as your 'hot shower time' lasts from when you put the token in. If you put the money in as you go in and then strip - you just have a few 'seconds' of showering time.
They also have some 'family showers' which , for the same price of £1.10 let 2,3,4,...8 people shower at once!

It may be expensive but you have to compare it with neighbouring marinas: Lymington, Bucklers hard, Poole .... all of which are prime contenders for the most expensive berth in the known universe. I know, the piles and Town Quay moorings at Bucklers hard and Lymington are cheaper, but you can see what visitors from nearby are used to paying.
Depending on how many crew there are and how often you want to use the water taxi I think it's a bit cheaper Weymouth (£15 for 9m but free showers). Haven't been into Bembridge this year yet.

I love Yarmouth - but it is the cost of the water taxi which does make it expensive. It is, after all, £8 (might be £8.80) for 4 blokes to be carried only 30m or so there & back, to some of the inside pontoons. Also it doesn't run before 0800 (or after) so a shower before an early start is out (although it does go on more or less until the last drunk has boarded his/her boat)
Perhaps the answer is to muster up the energy and use pub-time to inflate the dinghy ?

...and don't forget Lymington (Berthon) Marina who recently charged us £70 for two nights!! Our favourite remains Yarmouth.

I agree with that. Yarmouth is a semi traditional harbour with a nice feeling about it, why not use the tender? Since most carry one taxi becomes after all a personal buying choice not an imposition.

If you shower aboard and use the tender it'll be much better value. I must say I prefer to use my own shower than get communal anyway, and I think I've paid for the hot water once too!

I reckon it's very cheap.
Anchor - so no mooring charge.
Go to and fro in boat tender - no charge.
Shower with a bucket and sponge - no charge.
Loads-a-money to spend on beer and grub!

2 nights in Yarmouth = £115.60 !!! Not so cheap, but agree much nicer view than Berthon.
