We unfortunately need to lay the boat up until next spring. Does anyone have any recommendations (ideally cheap!) near Sneek? Boat is overdue a lift out, so ashore would be good. TIA!

Contact - Swan Watersport Woudsend
I used these people in Woudsend a couple of years back and would recommend them. Haul out and storage very reasonable. Boss man (Baz) very helpful and experienced guy. Facilities good but no liveaboard on land.

Charges for mooring and services in inland Holland are generally pretty low, unlike those at the coast and sailing centres. I have stopped at Sneek a couple of time but can't claim to know the place.

Not really near Sneek I'm afraid but I've used Jachtservice, onderhoud, maatwerk en stalling - rcyacht at Regatta Marina Medemblik. They were very professional and Medemblik has good services around and is an attractive (small) town. Yachts are usually stored ashore in the large (secure) car park in the winter. I think the car park is taken over by the RV community in the summer so space may be a problem but I'm pretty sure they would be able to sort something. PS photo taken when I lifted out for a quick scrub down.

Edit: I should add - there is a regular bus service to Hoorn (the bus stop is a short walk from the marina) and then a regular train service to Amsterdam Centraal (onwards to Schipol if required). All easy and stress free.

In the last few years I've stayed at https://www.reekerswatersport.nl & https://www.metjaap.nl both fine and both in Woudsend. Woundsend has a number of boatyards/small marina's with layup facilities but not at lot more. Worth checking with boatyards that they can accommodate your draft.

At the moment I'm in https://www.friesehoek.nl in lemmer and have stayed there before which again is good accept their method of tightening turnbuckles is precisely what Selden advises against (and they are Selden agents). Part of the same group is Home - SkipsMaritiem in Hindelopen which very pleasant and has I believe more tradesmen but in common with Woudsend not much more.

I've never stayed in Sneek but there are a number of boat yards or small marinas and Sneek probably has the best selection of boat related and other facilities in the region. You could try entering 'jachthaven' (yacht harbour) into google maps which should throw up more facilities or even 'watersportvereniging' WSV for short (boating club). I don't think there is a great deal of difference price wise but at this time of the year if you are committing to the summer and winter ashore they may be open to negotiation.
