Friend has his Motor cruiser lifted by the yards own crane, put down onto chocks, remained supported by slings, not propped, pressure washed, no undue fouling, remained there for maybe 2 hours then lifted onto own "new trailer".

Trailer beds needed small adjustments to fit boat which is 7.2m long.

What would members expect to pay? not South Coast.

I'd agree with coliholic 250-300, but there might be 2 hours labour in adjusting the trailer beds and moving the trailer around the yard etc, so another £80 for that. Then + an hour's crane hire while the trialer beds job was done, so +£50. All + VAT.

You wrote "new trailer" in inverted commas but it's not clear why. Was it actually not a new trailer, in which case the yard spent ages freeing the bolts to adjust the beds, or what?

Hi mate, are we talking your home port here? when a crane is taken up yards charge what they like id imagine £60 per hour.

Inverted commas was to emphasise new, like just delivered, never used new so no problems with siezed bolts etc.

Sorry for any confussion.

Hi Paul,
No, not home Port, the yards original plan was to pull it out on a yard trailer to enable power wash, then lift onto owners trailer, if they had done this crane would not have been "standing"

Another vote for between £250 & £300, based on lift, pressure wash, hold for 1hr (survey) and relaunch (or trailer loading)
Extras on top would be trailer adjustment, I guess around £60+vat for 1hrs labour

So total close on £400 .

Down here £2.00 per foot in and £2.00 per foot out plus the price of a drink to hold on the strops for a bit.!
Lets say £120 for cash...you will be paying cash of course :)

A simple lift to trailer would probably cost you 120-150 for a boat that sort of size. The main cost is the hold in slings (delay) and you adjusting the trailer prob 100 per hour at least.

Thanks to all who contributed.

The actual price charged was £600 + Vat = £705.

That is outrageous. In our club that would have been less than £100. In a commercial yard in Poole I had a 11m sailboat with its 15m mast lifted from a road trailer and launched plus the mast stepped and an overnight alongside for just over £300 - too big for our club hoist to lift off the truck.

suppose your mate who had the 7 metre boat never thought about pushing his trailer into the water and get some one with a discovery or similar to yank it.wherever that boat yard is they would not be getting another penny from me with a bill that extortionate for a simple job.as stated time to name and shame boatyard.

Wow, just been charged €93 for a lift onto trailer and hot pressure wash for a 24 footer. That included power washing where the trailer pads go before dropping and a good hour of power washing once on the trailer. South coast sounds mad money.

Sorry to see the actual price that your friend paid. Lesson for all, ask before agreeing.
