Yanmar YSM8 - 2 or 3 blade prop

I have a Sunspeed 715 fitted with a Yanmar YSM8. On the underside there is a P Bracket and a two bladed prop. To give the engine a bit more drive I was thinking of fitting a 3 bladed prop. Are there problems with doing so or is it a perfectly feasible idea?

A three blade prop produces more thrust but you have to match it to your engine's power.
A folding or feathering three blade prop is good on a sailing boat, but they're not cheap.
I've bought a Kiwi prop.

I have a YSE 8 and the same dilema. Could you provide a link to your prop?

Fitted a 3 blade to my trapper 300 to give it more push, which it did, but slowed the boat to a crawl under sail. Now have a GORI 2 bladed folder. It gives a good push but no resistance under sail. Cost about £300.

I've had 2 YSB's in the same boat (at different times), because of different gear ratios one had a 2 bladed prop and one had a 3 bladed prop. Only noticable difference has been greater prop walk at low speeds with the 3 bladed prop. This has been in an Snapdragon , hardly a "performance" boat, so haven't noticed any appreciable effect on sailing speed between the two.

The Trapper 500 has a balanced rudder that spins around 360 deg, which means a folder is not an option /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Any recomendations for manufacture on 2 bladed props. What things will I need to know before ordering one.
