I have encountered a problem with the above mentioned stubborn beast, I have still low RPM under load.

Engine running fine, starts fine ,plentey RPM out of gear!!. Have flushed gearbox with flushing oil, re-filled to the correct level. Could it be the gear lever not completly engaging from the remote??? I have heard that this was a problem with Yanmars at one time.

If any readers of the forum have any suggestions, I would appreciate your thoughts, Thank you in anticipation.........

Silly question but does the shaft freely turn or have you got something round the prop?
Try taking off the cable from the gearbox and engaging the arm by hand that will tell you if if you are getting full movement.

I don't suppose you've just overtightened your stern gland? I agree with the other chappy sounds like it could be rope or fishing line got in between the prop and the bearing. Dive down or dry out to check before you go spending money!!
