Strange new thing I'm dealing with this morning.
Started up the Yanmar, runs great. The buzzer and "Water Proof" light are stuck on.

The research I can find states that this light is for "saildrive" models.
My engine is a jh4 cylinder shaft drive model.

Anyone have any idea what's happening here and how I can fix what's wrong? Can't really run the boat with the alarm going off as I wouldn't be able to tell if a "real" alarm were to sound.

Thanks for your help!

On the GM series Yanmar control panel, the connections for the saildrive warning sensor (and heater plugs) are just left dangling from the loom - is yours the same? If so, is there any chance that they're shorting against something?

Possible that the wire at the engine end that should connect to the sensor is sitting in some salt water. You can disable the warning at the panel end. The wire from the sensor goes into the buzzer unit and the warning light. If you cut/disconnect both it will stop.

Just in case you don't know, the saildrives have a flexible rubber gaiter sealing the drive to the hull (i.e. keeping the sea out). Because of the dire consequences of this gaiter failing, the 'gaiter' is actually two gaiters with a water sensor between them - If the outer gaiter leaks the inner gaiter keeps the water out of the boat but the sensor sets off the "Water Proof" light and the buzzer.

I think the sensor is normally connected to an amplifier module which plugs into the "standard" (i.e. "one size fits all") wiring loom - you probably don't have any of this, just the connector on the loom. If Yanmar standardise this, it will look like the connector in the middle of the photo below (from a 2GM20F):
