Yanmar sail drive oil drain plug

As far as I remember I undid mine with a large screwdriver out of my toolbox with a hex on the shaft to fit a spanner on. Scredriver was about 15" long with a 10mm tip.

I use a wide blade “stumpy” screwdriver. When my boat is in the cradle, the height of the handle is better for good purchase than it would be with a longer screwdriver.

I rather like the look of the socket in the link. An added advantage is that it can be used with a torque wrench to retighten.

Always a good idea to replace the seal. It costs pennies.

I was having the same problem finding a screwdriver big enough on my Yanmar saildrive. Bitter experience shows that using a screwdriver that is too small is a bad idea on tight bolts. What I did was cut down an old chisel using an angle grinder, carefully removing metal until it was a nice tight fit. A pair of mole grips on the chisel provided excellent leverage and the bolt came straight out. The chisel is stored for future use! :)
