Hi,
I have just fixed what could be a common problem with Yanmar engine panels. Specifically mine is a 2005 Yanmar 4JH4E - but the same panel is probably fitted with many other Yanmars, especially 4JH series.
The problem started with the warning buzzer being a bit feeble (when engine is not running - due to no charge & low oil pressure). I also noticed that the lights became a bit dim. More recently it has been totally silent with no lights and even the backlight in the tacho stopped working. Does not affect tacho operation or hours running.
Answer.
There is a 5 A fuse (blade type) in a black holder bundled up in the harness at the back of the panel. This fuse supplies 12V to the tacho light and the warning lights and buzzer. After a few years the contacts become brittle and fall off - Fuse holder replaced (any in-line 5A will do the job). Tacho backlight now works but the warning lights and buzzer are still feeble.
Next problem, there is a white 6 way connector plugged into the PC board behind the warning lights. 5 contacts are used - 1 supplies 12V (from the above mentioned fuse), the other 4 connect to the 4 warning lights (only 3 are used unless you have saildrive). Again the contacts in this white plug (Amp/TE Connectivity (was tyco) SL 156 series - 3.96mm pitch) become brittle and fall apart. I managed to get some replacement contacts but they can be difficult to obtain (TE connectivity 3-770476-1) Farnell do then as 1339238 RS also do them - search for SL 156 contacts - Maplin don't do them.
Alternatively you could crimp some butt connectors onto the pins on the panel.
