Last piece of the jigsaw now official.

VW is now part of the CMD alliance and is responsible for diesel engines up to 5 litres.

CMD has formally dumped VM as supplier due to ongoing and unnaceptable product quality issues.

Nanni are in the frame to take on VM as they will no longer be able to obtain supply of Toyota base motors to marinise.

On a different perspective Mermaid Engines has been sold to Power Torque Engineering from Coventry on Cyril Snares retirement, Ferndown factory and production facility is closing. Will be replaced with new Mermaid sales office in Poole. Sadly the end of an era.
