Morning all,

My friend has a 30hp Yanmar that has slight oil leak.

I don't know the exact model number but it's not that old, has three cylinders and is raw water cooled.

The oil is coming out of where the hand start handle fits. It's not much but enough to need fixing.

So my question is this...is there a simple seal behind that starting handle fitting that is easily fixed.

Thanks

There is an oil seal there, that's easy, the difficult bit can be getting the cover screws out.

I had a leak on a IGM10 at the same spot that I fixed without removing the cover.First I drove the pin for the handle out. Then drilled the oil seal with a 1(or so)mm bit and screwed a selftapper into the hole.Gripping the screw with pliers I pulled the old seal out, went out to buy a new one and reffited.Care is needed when drilling through the seal to avoit touching the shaft.
