I have a 2004 Yanmar 3YM20 in my Beneteau, it is fitted with a B-type Instrument panel see image.

The top layer of the panel has peeled off, however all the instruments do continue to work. I can get a complete new panel with instruments fitted for about £500 but I only want the panel face. Any suggestions ?
Thanks, George

If it's anything like the panel for my 2GM20, the various parts (lights, buttons, etc) simply project through the panel, with the connections made by free-flying wiring behind it. This being the case, you can remove the parts from the panel and fit them into a new one, which need not be identical to the old. I did exactly that on Kindred Spirit, to incorporate the engine controls into the main electrics panel:

You could get an engraver to make you a suitable panel for just the engine bits, then transfer them across.

I know of a broken Beta panel, Beta sold a new one for the owner to transfer components. Cost was around £30. You could try E P Barrus to see if they do the same, (but I wouldn't hold my breath).

If you put a few dimensions to the drawing, I'd think you could get a "boat name" graphic done to stick over the original. Got to come in under £20?

Several people inc me have made their own, either from acrylic or in my case a small nylon chopping board.
New switches and gauges can be obtained in Halfords or Maplins. The panels don't last as long as the engines!
In fact they should probably be removed offseason.

I replaced mine earlier this year and had to get one shipped from Australia as they are now no longer available. Same boat, same panel. Was $170 Australian. Was shipped by TNT and took 5 days to arrive. TNT then charged me £40 in VAT and import fees.

I made a new one from a piece of scrap 4mm ply, epoxy coated .
very easy winter passtime and looks bespoke.
I could probably make you one for about £499 ;)

George,

Can definitely recommend contacting John Harvey (Parts Manager) at French Marine Motors.

You may be pleasantly surprised how reasonable a new Yanmar facia panel will cost, I was.

I made my own, partly because the old one was cracked and faded, but also because I wanted oil pressure and water temperature gauges as well. The acrylic panel was made locally, the instruments and senders came from ASAP Supplies and the tinned wire I found from somewhere on the Internet.
