My (very old) MASE IS7 genset has a yanmar engine.
The local service guy can’t find an engine number on the actual unit (it’s quite tucked away).

I have got the Mase parts list and diagrams which gives the engine model as the following:

Yanmar 2GMFLME-2G

Googling though doesn’t bring up that model number, but I do recognise it as a 2GM series.
Are all the 2GM engines the same? Is the FLME-2G maybe a genset or MASE designation?

What I’m after is some belts, impellers and filters etc to keep on the boat

looks like with have the same genset.
over the last 4 months I've learnt way too much about it through the full rebuilt :D
yes, all 2GM are the same and all a bit different to 2GM20 (different bore).
F denotes fresh water cooling.
Need two belts, which don't seem to wear much (haven't changed them ever)
How many hours on the gen?
seawater pump needed a full rebuilt before 1K h on mine.
A couple of threads on PBO on the pump, different guises others with key others without, better remove impeller and buy like for like

cheers

V.

Take a pic of the pump face plate on there will be scribed it’s make .
Mines ( Yanmar powered Mase 4 ) a Johnson FB 50 iirc ? Universally found for €15 in any chandler.A ubiquitous impeller , used on many other pumps .

The bolt on bits are generic not MASE .

Eg the single water pump belt is Citroen AX 1.0 alternator belt for €4 from the Fr equivalent of Halfords .
I took / noted the serial no of the snapped one and waltzed off to the shop .

Again take a pic of the oil filter ( as much as you can while it’s in situ ?)
Yanmar s are hand unscrew able with a lock nut .
Approx 5 Cm long inserted and 1-1/2 Cm dia .
£8 from “ on line filters “ or such a place .
Ps don’t take it out without emptying the sump first as it sits at the lowest point .
Use any 10/40 W oil same as your mains .

I do my own annual MASE geny service 1/2 hr job all in .

Your impeller killer is running dry .They are tiny maybe 4/5 Cm across ?
At lift outs ensure the IN cock is closed to prevent the thing inadvertently draining down .
At lift in it might not recharge enough or be a little worn sos to be unable to draw water up at the first start up since the lift out / inadvertently drain down .
If so kiss good bye to existing impeller .
Normally you can , well I can tell by the sound within seconds if there’s a water supply problem .

I think MASE genys are Uber tough and reliable if reasonably cared for .
Apart from the above consumables regularly changed that’s it basically.
Mines a 2001 the hrs meter I have not fathomed out how to get it to read .

I know Yanmar small diesels were originally built as paddy pumps for SE Asia so just run and run and can take serious abuse .Mines a tiny 295 cc air cooled one with fins for cooling .
