Hi,

I am having problems with sealing the bleed screw on my 1GM10's fuel filter (the one on the engine). I have replaced the copper washer and have been careful not to over-tighten but alas there is still a sligh weep of fuel. If fuel is getting out, air can get in which is also probably adding to my cold-start problems. I'm thinking of trying a fiber washer next - running out of ideas! ....any other suggestions??

Thanks, Dave

I seem to remember that washer being some type of plastic but yes I would try fibre.

On the filter housing top there are two bleed plugs - one hex head with crush washer and one cross head normal bleed screw.

The cross head bleed screw has a nylon washer ( yanmar part )

The cross head bleed screw on the top of the injector pump has a dowty washer ( yanmar part )

These were as supplied as Yanmar parts when I renewed the two bleed screws.

Both the cross head bleed screws are the same - but have different washers ?

I would have thought a dowty would do fine on all.

I am not sure why the hex bleed plug on the filter housing is there - I've never bled it. I only bleed the cross head screw.

A new filter assembly from Yanmar is actually very cheap ! - £53 inc vat ( see page 5 link )
and that may include a new filter and O ring !
