I plan to check and if necessary replace these in a few weeks time and have made enquiries about purchasing new ones on the internet.

I was a bit concerned when two suppliers have now sent me a quotation offering a price to suppl three anodes; but when I looked at the handbook, I only saw two indicated, have I missed one?

The Engine is a 3GM30F

Might help if you said which engine (Yanmar have made rather a lot of them over the years) but for what it's worth there are only two on my 2GM20.

My 3GM30F has no anodes. The F indicates that it is indirectly cooled, in which internal corrosion is controlled by the antifreeze in the coolant system. The only metal parts in contact with seawater arebthe pump and the heat exchanger, both of which are in corrosion resistant materials that need no anode.

Are you looking at the seawater cooled information?

What Viv said..

No anodes on the 3GM30F....one job you don't have to worry about. If you have a raw water cooled 3GM30 then there are 3-one in the gearbox end of the cylinder head and 2 in the block near the fuel lift pump/oil dipstick.

If you have a saildrive coupled to the 3GM30F (you'd also normally have a C aswell if there's a Sd), then there is an internal anode on the the port side of the saildrive gearbox. even if you have the 'F'. Be careful though, the stop cock doesn't turn the water off before this and you have to be quick to block off as it gushes in...
