I have a Pela hand pump and have tried a Lidl 12 volt one. Both are OK but it does seem a faff getting extraction tube down the dipstick tube.

My Yanmar 6LA-DTP's have a threaded "collar" welded to the dipstick tube. As this tube goes down to very low on the sump, it would seem a better idea to just use the dipstick tube itself as the means of extraction. I guess that's why they designed it with the collar.

Trouble is, I have been unable to find a pump with a suitable threaded tube or any fittings to add to my Pela to screw on to this tube.

Any ideas please?IMG_1848.jpg

You don’t need to push it down the tube just on the top it will suck up the oil then .
I serviced a pair yesterday get the oil hot begure you try

I have 6LPA-STPs and use Jabsco 17800-2000 Marine Porta Quick Oil Changer.

It has a 1/4" dipstick hose insterted in a 1/2" extracting hose with a bushing but it sucks slowly even it's 12 volt and have impeller pump, but also it came with a female garden hose connector which I screw it to the aforomentioned threads at the dipstik and connect the 1/2" suction hose and in 4-5 minutes sucks all the oil from the engine.

HTH.

Thanks Paul and HTH. The price of that pump is a bit out of my league so I will cut up some garden hose fittings and try to fix them on to the end of the Pela pump tube.

You might be lucky and find it’s the same fitting as the standard Mercruiser GM engine type. If it is, bonus. Loads of them available and cheap. Even hand pumps come cheap with this fitting and designed for the job.

Any hardware store will have the fittings you need to screw together for adapting your hose to this. You need a 3/4"MHT female fitting to go on that dipstick collar.
