Hello All, (reposting this on a new forum)

My dash kill button quit working. So I have to manually stop the engine by going below. I suspect the kill switch wiring connecting the button to the solenoid is broken.

Can someone please:
1. Confirm the location of the solenoid with an image/photo on the 4LHA-HTP, and
2. Describe the wire harness routing from the dash over to the solenoid. I think mine is white with a brown length-ways stripe with intermittent red width-ways marks, but I cant find it anywhere on the engine.
3. Confirm that if I apply a 12v pos charge to the soleneoid wire (which re-attached hopefully to the correct place) then it should close and shut off the fuel supply.

Thanks

Had exactly the same in our first boat which had a 4LHA-STP.

Always worse when we had been on a decent run, I too had to shut down manually - As a friend of mine used to say "he is poking it with a stick"

I used to periodically spray the lever at the engine end with spray Silicone Grease which seemed to do the trick for some weeks until the heat 'dried it out'

You could try tightening the cable if you have slack at the engine end.

I had the same problem with a Kohler / Yanmar genset,
in my setup the solonoid was rsuted and stuck,
WD40 and mending the solonoid on/off multiple times solved the problem..

Down to boat this morning, will check wiring colours.
In my case had to release the manual fuel cut on both engines , had seized solid simply through non use.
Elbow grease and copious amounts of WD40 cured the problem.

Off out to meet the PS Waverley on visit from the Thames come to view the PS Medway Queen undergoing restoration locally.
Shame to waste this weather ?
