I have a Yanmar 2GM20. I don't know the answer to your question but if you visit www.yanmarhelp.com and go to the message board, you can post your question there. The site is a mine of information for Yanmar owners. They might even have a section giving information on the water pump. Hope this helps. Regards. Paul

I have just had a look and there is an article under "Service" on the raw water pump. You might need to either do a search on the message board or ask the question about service kits.

Try [url.www.asapsupplies.com/url] - they will probably be able to provide a 'kit'.
Should be <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.asapsupplies.com>http://www.asapsupplies.com</A>

i have a 2gm with an external raw water pump. assuming that the type of pump used on the 3gm is the same, and that you are not referring to the engine fresh water pump, then servicing with parts is limited.

you can buy a new impellor and a new sealing gasket but after that you are into "engineering" ie needing both skills and tools better than the average boatie away from home.

had my 2 gm pump re- machined to compensate for wear by cellar marine at porthallow in cornwall (yanmar agents) who seem to be that rare type of agent who both know what they are doing, and do not take the quick and easy "just replace it" type of approach. unfortunately, for that you need the pump itself.

seals and bearings can be bought from a seal and bearing stockist much cheaper than as yanmar bits. make sure any lip seals have stainless springs, not the standard carbon steel. in the uk, look at the yellow pages. no doubt there is a french equivalent.

have had various jobs done in france and (unlike spain) the level of competence is as good as the uk. unfortunately, they seem a bit inclined to take advantage of a damsel in distress like yourself. £600 for a replace starter, quoted by one outfit!

best solution (which was what i did myself) was to buy a second pump, and then have the first re-furbed at leisure and retained as a spare. so if an impellor goes, i replace the pump which is much quicker.

Just a thought .. if its the cover, a good altenative might be to fit a speedseal.
