Hi all

My newly acquired boat has a 1980 2qm20 in it which seems to run great.

I am giving it a good service and replacing the usual parts but has anyone used one of these stainless exhaust elbows that you can get from the states? Mine is a bit rusty and I would prefer to replace before it lets me down.

If it's rusty on the outside it will be worse inside. Mine looked perfect from the outside but the inner sleeve fell out when I took it off.

Oh no spyro. That's my fear.

I will be taking it off tomorrow with my fingers crossed that it's intact on the inside.

Hi again.

Just been down to the boat and taken the elbow off. It's seems ok inside but was full of carbon, but this looks like an aftermarket elbow.

Anyone seen anything like this. I am concerned about the rust.

The mixer elbow is a notorious spot for corrosion. My 3GM30s have stainless elbows fitted from new so I guess it has to be a good thing. Given the consequences of hot exhaust getting into the engine compartment it seems like a good investment.
