Hi all, I am trying to find information relating to removing the front gearcase housing to replace the gasket which has failed at the bottom end. I am nervous at going near the governor to say the least. Any links to videos would be a great help.

having gone through that (to replace the oring on the governor lever which was leaking LOTS of oil) I'd say it's not THAT easy and straight forward.
Can be done, but you have to remove the high pressure fuel pump, which iirc cannot be done unless you remove the heat exchanger and move the governor at a certain (midpoint?) position.
so heat exchanger off, fuel pump off, remove pulley and seawater pump, a dozen or so bolts and remove the thing.
When doing so, check carefully how the inertia (or whatnot) governor internals "link" to the fuel pump via a lever and groove of some sort (going from memory having done that 2 or 3 seasons ago) so you can put it all back together.
Once removed, fairly straightforward to replace gasket and put together.
I'd get the 2gm manual and follow the procedures mentioned there.
the freshwater cooled version means a few more things to remove.

good luck!
