My son withdrew the key in the on position. I am now unable to insert key to switch off, any suggestions. I noticed over the last while the key had been a bit lose.

Fill it up with WD40.
You can remove it and may be able to partially dismantle it.
I think it could be replaced with a non Yanmar switch if nec.

Have you tried to switch it off with a thin bladed screwdriver? You should then be able to reinsert the key.
Usually the tumblers only have to be in the correct position to allow switching on.
