I may be missing something in the manual, but does anybody know the level that the gearbox oil should register on the transmission dipstick?

The dipstick is tubular, about 100 mm long and has one line around the circumference, about 5mm from the bottom end. A small hole is drilled towards the top of the dipstick.

I assume that the line is a lower level mark. The small hole is too high to be the upper mark, and because the oil capacity is only 0.3 l. it may be that the gearbox is filled exactly to the single line.

It would be very helpful if someone could tell me how far up the dipstick the oil is meant to come.

guessed right. line = exact level. should not vary as in an engine, as gearboxes do not 'use' oil.
Hole has to do with breathing during warming up/cooling down.
