Yanmar 1GM10 Alternator

I know it was posted recently but cant find it, but can someone tell me what automotive alternator will be a direct switch for 1GM10. I have to be sure to get it right because boat is in dartmouth and I am going down to collect it next week, I am pretty sure alternator is nackered so want to take down spare so I can bring the boat back.

I tried Yanmar help but my e mail was returned undelivered and the forums arent searchable as pages cant be found. Come on, someone out there must be able to give me a definitive answer, after all the forum is all knowing!!

Most Yanmars (my 2GM 20F did ) used an Hitatchi alternator.
No guarantee though....

...or you can do what my mate did and go to LSUK, and they'll match it up with a new (equivalent, probably Hitachi as Aja suggests) one for about £90.

In the last year I have purchased 3 Yanmar 3YM engines and they all came with Hitachi alternators as standard.

One word of warning the new alternators are wired differently to the old and if you have an Adverc type charging system on the boat beware of blowing it up (the Adverc that is) ~ they (Adverc) now know about the problem and have changed their wiring diagram which includes an extra relay that operates when the engine is switched off.
