Anyone who has a Yanmar 1Gm or 1GM10 with a corroded cylinder head exhaust port, and you are thinking of scrapping the engine because of this problem, dont, there is a solution other than spend £600 for a new head. We have a 1GM in our Arden 4 that has been running for 4 years with a repaired head, so if you need this done just drop me a pm and I can help you with this, or indeed any other 1GM problems.

How corroded? Mine at a 3/8" diameter hole between the exhaust passage and the pushrod hole. I asked cast iron welding companies, and theywere willing have a go ... for around the same cost as a new head here, and twice the cost of the head I imported from the US.

Thats not a problem. Send your head to me and I will repair it for you. How are the valve guides, valve seats etc. If all is good with the head other than the corrosion it can be repaired, I have done this repair many many times over.

hi raymie, can you advise of how you managed to repair. Exh. Port on 1Gm 10. I used j p weld, but not confident, thanks Patrick,

Hi, hope all is well. Does anyone know where I can get my Yanmar 1GM cylinder Head reconditioned? Many Thanks
Where are you based. A decent car engine ‘reconditioner’ should be perfectly capable of doing the job. I used to use Toweler in Clacton, but depends where you are obviously.
