Hello,

I have resurrected my late fathers old Yamaha P45 2hp outboard which wasn't running due to a blown head gasket and blocked waterways. It now runs well once started but still takes a little effort to get going. I've had it apart and the piston, bore and rings all look in good order and the carb has been cleaned out. Does anyone know what the points should be set at and more importatntly the correct timing for these engines. I've currently set the timing at 1.5mm btdc but I'm not sure if that's right.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Stewart.
