I have a 5hp Mariner (same as a Yamaha 5hp) single cylinder two stroke.
I also have a 8hp Mariner and a 15hp Mariner twin cylinder two stroke's and have used all three on the same Honwave 2.7 inflatable.
The 5hp is a great lightweight engine that easily gets on the plane with one adult.
The 8hp is a much heavier twin cylinder engine and will plane with two adults (assuming not too heavy).
However the 15hp is only marginally heavier than the 8hp so IMO I wouldn't even bother considering the 8hp.
Check your inflatables outboard weigh capacity and if the 15hp is within then hunt down one the last of the two stroke 15hp Yamaha/Mariner/Mercury's.
It will fly and can be a lot of fun, even a little "edge of your seat" flighty with just one up in the chop.
