My outboard runs great in fast idle position but will not tick over . Suspect gum in idle jet . Seeing as it will cost me £120 for a lift out /in before I pay for repairs , Is there anything I can spray /put in the carbs too clear it ? Is there anyone who knows someone in the Swansea marina area who does boat calls ?

try carb cleaner wynns i think that will remove most of thegum, the other thing might be worth a try is redex, some in the fuel and some in the carb but make sure you only dose the carb in small amounts and be ready to give it a bit of throttle, don't suppose you can get to the float chamber on the carb as it may be crap in there, make sure you don't lose the float tho

Thanks . Its a triple carb so I did not want to remove it myself on the mooring in case of losing a part . Bit embarrassing if you do not know what you lost .

You can try spraying some carb cleaner(halfords)down the throats it may shift it!
Otherwise try Celtic marine on the Marina at Swansea they will send an engineer down for you.
Good luck.
