I have a nice little Yamaha 2 hp 2 stroke that I bought recently in New Zealand (still OK there) but it has developed carb problems as if the slow running jet is blocked ....but there appears to be no slow running jet.

The symptoms are that it is hard to start, only runs with a bit of choke although reasonably well, and then stalls at slow revs.

I have cleaned the carb 3 times to no avail...any suggestions.

I suspect there is a tiny drilling that I have missed which has got **** in it....but is there?

You dont say what year so pick the year from this list then the HP and then refer to the carb diagram.

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Outboard/parts.html

They all look pretty much the same to me. And no I cant see a slow running jet as such.

Got the adjustment screw set correctly ... usually around 1.5 tuns out from gently seated as an initial setting to be refined once running

Thanks for the help. The diagram confirmed what I thought that there is no slow running jet. The screw is set about right so I am still a bit mystyfied as to my problem...thanks anyway!

Loosen the carb clamp and ensure carb is pushed hard to the engine before retightening. If not hard in there can be a leak at the slit underneath!!!
