Hey guys,
My 15hp Yamaha 2 stroke has started to fail to shift remotely into reverse (grinding).
Today I disconnected the shifter cable from the outboard and used the local shift lever to move it into reverse, neutral and forward. It does appear to shift correctly from the local lever.
Next I moved the (now disconnected cable) along with the lever shift to see if they lined up, and sure enough neutral and forward line up fine but reverse doesn’t go back enough by about 1.5cm, even with the cable end adjusted to the very last few threads.
Does this seem like purely a cable problem? Do I need a longer cable end? Or maybe that would affect forward engagement.
Any help is most welcome.
Thanks,
