yam 9.9 2st propellor lost overboard

ive just had a blast around the estuary and suddenly lost thrust. oops the prop is missing. gods knows how i lost it. im now waiting for the tide to go out to see if i can at least find the prop if not the nut.

if i cant find it does anybody know where might sell used ones as new are 75 pounds from my local chandler. do any other makes use the same prop or will i need to just bvite the bullet and open my wallet.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but I assume you made it back to safety (and aren't posting via a mobile phone while you drift helplessly off into the sunset!)

I got a few suggestions when I asked about a Honda prop. in this thread . Bill Higham came up with the goods, but also worth trying any local O/B repairers.

Just noticed the last question in your post - Many people sell a "universal" type of propellor with interchangeable hubs to suit different engine manufacturers. (I suspect this was what your chandler was going to sell you.) Check Steel Developments' web-site where you can configure one of these props online and get a price. It is also worth checking what the cost of a genuine Yamaha spare is. You may be pleasantly surprised. A new Honda prop for my O/B would have been about £60 (but it took several days to get this information).

thanks very much for the info.
i put on the aux 2.5hp. very slow going but luckily the sea was like a mirror today with no waves and no swell. ive just been down to the beach and spotted some local lads and they were bait digging so ive asked them to comb the area where i lost thrust as im hoping they will find the prop, especia;;y as i told them the first to find it get £20. i'll wait for the phone to ring with baited breath

i got the prop back at low tide after a good long walk. but i still need the hardware ie thrustbearing and any washers and a nut. where might the best place be for this stuff. my local yam dealer is closed till wednesday.
