There used to be plenty on the market, where you could buy the hull, keel and deck assembly, and fit it out yourself, not much around now, but at Paris yesterday I found Wrighton Yachts who make twin keeled deck saloon boats, available in kit form. They are also sold fully completed, with fairly plain looking but well thought out and well made interiors. The Bi Loup 36 struck me as a good design, with some nice features like the dedicated liferaft stowage in the transom, a feature not often seen on monohulls. For anyone wanting a new boat for a drying mooring, or sailing the East Coast creeks I think one of these would be worth a good look.

Memo to Practical Boat Owner. How about trying to do a boat test on one? They look as if they might sail well, as the hull shapes are not too shallow and flat, and the ballast ratios look reasonable for twin keelers.

My Paris boatshow pictures include some shots of the 36 and the 30 footer, and are here
You need the password Paris to view them

Nice pix and am intrigued by the boat

Unfortunately the W Y site is 'under construction' so wioll have to wait to see the details

A test would indeed be a good thing - PBO are you listening ?

Looking at the list of 'optional extras' on most new boats I though they where all half completed!! Think many of the people who would previously have gone for this now either refit 60's - 80's boats or go for custom construction in either steel of strip epoxy. This is because of the ecconomics and construction techneques of modern GRP where, generally the interior is build before the deck is added, could not be home completed. The other factor is that to reduce wt and cost the interior on GRP boats is often an important stuctural ellement in the hull and needs to be installed under controlled conditions to achieve the required strength.

I looked in India at a company who were building Colvin Gazelle's http://kondosyokai.com/ is their home site.

Their test yacht called Rosa is shown here with the equipment fit they will provide.

I seriously looked at this, being based in the Middle East they were the closest builders to me.

Please PM me should you require more info.
