One notices an advertisement in the latest edition of YW placed by Berthon for a "Top Draw Broker"
Forgive me for being a little pedantic but I'm sure that should be "Top Drawer"
A premier yachting magazine and a premier brokerage both sharing a grammatical howler - where will it all end?

I believe that the photography for Berthon's regular double page spreads is becoming a little too expensive.

They are therefore looking for a broker who can knock out quick pen & ink sketches of the fine vessels they purvey.

Anyway, what are you doing reading YW? Getting ideas above your station?

Come up for air have we? Get back down to your screwing and glueing.
I borrrowed a copy to get a glimpse of life's other side and I've been developing a Daphne Morgan Barnicoat fetish - unfortunately the dear thing was not featured this time so had to make do with Jolyon and Preecy. He was much more fun when he was bricking it in the Southern Ocean!

Oh don't knock him, it's taken him the last year to save up his pocket money to buy the latest edition. And it's only several weeks later that he's realised that there's not just pictures and photos, there's even bits where he can practice his reading skills, only Mrs Claymore is getting a little fed up of having to listen to it all! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Couldn't help snigger at that one myself. What with all their "sexy" yachts, Dutch clogs and zatch and guggles!! One can only hope the eventual top drawER broker writes his advertisments in plain English, not pretentious cobblers!

may i respectfully suggest that grammatical howlers are not a suitable subject for this forum?

given the number posted every day we could soon be at war. myself i prefer to charitably put them down to typing errors (brain operating faster than fingers).

That's the trouble with one-finger typing; can't operate the shift key at the same time. I use two fingers, but for what purposes I refuse to commit myself.
